I LOVE LOVELY

Nov 11

Rent the Runway, a new dress rental site, launched last week- just in time for holiday parties.  Normally, I am not a fan of renting bags or clothing, but now that Rent the Runway has arrived, I am reforming my sentiments.
They have the best edited selection of designers- among my favorites were Pencey, Haute Hippie, Foley and Corinna and Matthew Williamson.
When you speak to customer service, you are actually speaking to a “stylist” and they know what they are talking about.  If they don’t have a dress that you are interested in, ask them about it.  They seem to know everything that’s on the market right now.  I had a great conversation with them about why the Foley and Corinna bow dress wasn’t in stock (Foley and Corinna didn’t provide the dress to them), if they were going to get the blue Robert Rodriguez studded dress (it may be coming in soon, right now they have just the black one), and how on trend the designer was this season (me: “I really like Robert Rodriguez this season”, stylist: “Yes, he is really on trend this season.”).
Unfortunately, my uneventful life doesn’t have any reason to rent dresses.  I better come up with one soon.  My only negative- they show pictures of dresses on the site that you can’t rent.  They claim it’s to give ideas to customers.  I think it’s a bad idea.
P.S.  I don’t know how long their “wait list” is to enter the site.  I can’t imagine that there really is one at all.  If there is, email me, and I’ll send you an invite.  And that is not a shameless plug to get referral money, I’m just trying to help a girl out.

This bird cage jewelry stand from Urban is on my christmas list.  There are multiple hooks for necklaces or rings and plenty of places for hanging earrings as well.  There isn’t a place for post earrings, but maybe they could be attached to ribbons tied to the bars.  I’d like to paint it a sunshine yellow, kelly green or turquoise before hanging it on the wall.

Click through to read the Design*Sponge interview with Coralie Bickford-Smith, cover designer of the Penguin Cloth-bound Classics pictured here.  They are all so gorgeous individually, and together they are even more gorgeous.  I just want to gaze at them.
